Dick began to study vibes in High School with Jose Bethancourt, mallet artist with the Chicago Symphony. He attended North Texas State and Northwestern University and has three albums as a leader: American Love Song, Duo Live with Fred Hersch, and End of Time with Kenny Werner, Barry Ries, Drew Gress, and Steve Davis.

His recent gigs include those with Bobby Broom in Chicago and Bob Sheppard, Joe and Pat Labarbera and Bill Cunliffe at the Seelbach, in Louisville as well as Larry Koonse and Jeff Di Angelo in L.A. and John Fedgechock and Charlie Shoemake in Cambria, Ca. Dick is the author of The Jazz Vibraphone Book, Meredith/Hal Leonard and has developed a signature mallet for Pro Mark. Recent clinic-concert performances include the University of North Texas and Arizona State University.
