Saxophone
Jerry Coker is Professor of Music. He received the M.A. degree from Indiana University. He has worked as tenor
saxophone soloist with Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Frank Sinatra, and others. He is the author of Improvising Jazz,
Patterns for Jazz, The Jazz Idiom, How to Listen to Jazz, Complete Method for Improvisation, Jazz Keyboards, Drones
for Improvisation, The Teaching of Jazz, Figure Reading Studies, How to Practice Jazz, and Elements of the Jazz
Language.
He is an international lecturer and performer, developer of jazz programs for several leading universities, and a
solo recording artist for Revelation Records.
